How to Scan a QR Code from a Photo in Your Gallery Without a Camera
To scan a QR code from a gallery photo without pointing a camera, tap "Upload Image" on TheScanQR and pick the picture from your camera roll. The image is decoded entirely within your local browser, meaning your private photos are never uploaded to any remote cloud server.
Scanning Gallery Photos on Different Operating Systems
- iPhone & iPad: Open the photo in the Apple Photos app. In iOS 16 and newer, tap the Live Text scanner icon in the bottom right corner. Alternatively, upload it to TheScanQR to inspect safety indicators.
- Android Devices: Open the photo in Google Photos and tap Lens, or upload the file to TheScanQR for immediate client-side parsing.
- PC & Mac: Simply drag the image file from your Downloads folder straight onto TheScanQR.
